Chapter 31: Investing Wisely

Over the years, my husband, Dee, and I have owned five homes, five rentals, and a warehouse. We started “small” back in 1972, the year after Dee returned from Vietnam. We paid $14,500 for a little white, two-bedroom clapboard house with green, shag carpet and a single-car garage on a large corner lot in the middle of Lincoln, Nebraska. We lived there when our daughter, Marci, was born and for a couple years after. It was that same corner lot with all its foliage that gobbled up Dee’s wedding ring while raking leaves in the fall before we moved...
