Chapter 30: Trust or Test?

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight.”

--Proverbs 3: 5

I love to go camping and bought my current car, a cute, little PT Cruiser—a “woodie” that my kids made fun of—because it came with a tiny, matching trailer for my camping gear. There are two problems with this trailer, however, besides the kidding I received from Marci and Phil. The first is that my recumbent bicycle won’t fit on the back of my car when the trailer is attached. The second is that I can never find anyone to go camping with me, trailer or not...

Summary

This 40-week Bible study began September 9, 2009, and ended on February 23, 2011. The New Revised Standard Version of the Holy Bible was used for the verses at the top of each lesson, unless otherwise stated.

The lessons were posted each week that the class met and consisted of Bible verses, a personal example of a situation, and questions for consideration. I met with a group of adult students at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Hastings, Nebraska on Wednesday nights at 7:00 p.m. the week after each posting to re-read the short story and follow it with discussion. Each week’s study at the church lasted about one hour.

Now that the 40-week study has ended, a revised version of this blog is being published in paperback form by Cornhusker Press of Hastings, Nebraska. The book is scheduled to be released to the public on July 3, 2011, after which time, it will be available at local bookstores or from my website, http://www.JerriHaussler.com. Because the book will then be available for purchase, I have removed most of the content on this blog in hopes that you will purchase a copy of my book. If you've been reading the stories over the past couple of years, you'll find the book is essentially the same as this blog, but a little different--and better--with the chapters rearranged to be more logical and interesting.

The Bible study worked well when I taught it over a two-year period beginning in September, 2009, but it could also be used as a devotional for Lent, since there are 40 lessons total, or just read as a personal daily devotion until finished.

As I’ve thought about my talents and the mission statement for Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, (to proclaim to all people the Gospel of Jesus Christ), I’ve felt called to do this.

If you want to learn something, grow your faith, and enjoy a good read, you will want to buy the book.
