Chapter 30: Trust or Test?

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight.”

--Proverbs 3: 5

“Jesus said to him, ‘Again, it is written,

Do not put the Lord your God to the test’.”

--Matthew 4: 7

I love to go camping and bought my current car, a cute, little PT Cruiser—a “woodie” that my kids made fun of—because it came with a tiny, matching trailer for my camping gear. There are two problems with this trailer, however, besides the kidding I received from Marci and Phil. The first is that my recumbent bicycle won’t fit on the back of my car when the trailer is attached. The second is that I can never find anyone to go camping with me, trailer or not...

To read the rest of this chapter, you will now need to buy my book, Simple Faith, Mighty Faith, published by Cornhusker Press and released 7-3-2011. Go to my website, http://www.JerriHaussler.com for ordering details. Thank you!

Thoughts to Ponder/Points for Discussion

  1. What do you think the phrase “Do not put the Lord your God to the test” means? Was the camping trip described in this story a foolish test?
  1. What are your fears? Are you able to trust the Lord with all your heart and meet them head on?
