Chapter 9: Faith and Works

“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for,

the conviction of things not seen.”

--Hebrews 11: 1

“Trust in the Lord, and do good;

so you will live in the land, and enjoy security.”

--Psalm 37: 3

“So faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead.”

--James 2: 17

We cannot buy or work our way into heaven; we must have faith to get there. But faith alone is hollow. One way we can bring our faith to its fullness and honor God is by doing good works—but just so there is no misunderstanding, I believe that our good works are in response to God’s grace and to show our love for God, and not a way to reach heaven...
